How to Drop Off and Pick Up at London Heathrow Terminal 4 (New 2026 Arrangements)
Essential information for driving to Heathrow Airport Terminal 4 (LHR, EGLL) following the June 2026 changes
If you're driving to Terminal 4 to drop someone off or collect them, the arrangements changed on Tuesday 23 June 2026. If you haven't been through T4 since, don't turn up expecting the old multi-storey car park. Here's everything that's different, and what it means if you're doing the driving yourself rather than booking a chauffeur.
What's changed
Heathrow has permanently closed the old Terminal 4 multi-storey car park as part of a wider modernisation programme, including a new car park, an improved drop-off area and upgraded accessibility facilities. It's the leading project in Heathrow's £1.3 billion airport-wide investment programme for 2026. T4 itself stays fully open throughout the works. It's just the parking and set-down arrangements that have moved.
What hasn't changed: taxi, Uber and private-hire pick-up/drop-off is still business as usual, and the Underground, rail, bus and coach links into T4 are unaffected.
What has changed: where you park, and Meet & Greet parking is suspended for the duration of the construction period.
Dropping off at T4
Quick drop-offs still happen at Departures Level 4, right outside the terminal, but note:
£7 per visit to use the forecourt
You can't leave your car unattended, so this is a "kiss and go" only
Keep left (Stratford Road) when leaving the main roundabout.
Entering the pickup zone: taxis and Ubers keep left, and all other vehicles go right, as instructed.
Picking up at T4
Collections now go through the Priority Pick-Up area on Arrivals Level 1, with online payment only:
Up to 10 minutes: £7
11–29 minutes: £14
30–60 minutes: £25
Over 60 minutes: £25 per hour, capped at £200 for the day
Keep right (Salisbury Road) when leaving the main roundabout.
Note: as with drop-off, you can't leave the vehicle unattended in Priority Pick-Up. It's for actively collecting your passenger, not waiting around. That said, we recently went into the terminal ourselves to find a client because everything was very chaotic outside, and we did get charged £25 for it.
Our recommendation is to wait in the free parking until your passengers have exited the terminal and are standing at the back edge of the car park. Get them to text or call you when they're there, so they're ready and able to see you when you drive in.
When you do drive in, taxis and Ubers will get waved straight on. Any other vehicles including private hire have to turn right in the car park and use the rows at the back.

A new Assisted Services Hub has opened in Zone A, offering wheelchair access, mobility equipment storage and staffed support all the way from the car park to the terminal entrance.
