Child Car Seats in Our Mercedes VClass: Answering Your FAQs

A child car seat in the back of a mercedes vclass private hire taxi

We often get asked about car seats for children on trips in our Mercedes VClass, so hopefully this short article might answer a few questions.

1) Do We Use Car Seats?

Yes and we recommend doing so for all children that are under 135 cm. We are very happy to fit your child’s car seat into our vehicle for the journey. We have 4 Isofix positions in the rear two seat strips or the seat can be secured with the seat belts. If your child is under 15 months old, they must be in a rear facing child seat.

2) We Are Going to the Airport, What Do We Do with the Seat?

We can look after your car seat and have it reinstalled into the vehicle for the return journey. Please label both the seat and the base with your name and phone number. We can have quite a few in storage at the same time and wouldn’t want to turn up with the wrong one for the return journey!

3) Do You Supply Car Seats?

No, because the car seat rules and specifications change all the time. It would cost a lot to have an up to date seat available for every age or size of child. An example of how things change, one of our recent customers supplied a new car seat that had side airbags!

4) Can a Child Travel Without a Car Seat?

Yes, the law is quite clear on this, a child can travel in a private hire vehicle without a child seat - but they must sit in the back. They also have to wear a seat belt if they are over three years old.
